Cake Smash & Splash Photoshoot | Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire Cake Smash Photographer

Cake Smash and Splash sessions are about an hour of pure fun and laughter! So I thought I would throw together this quick little guide to help you prepare for your session.

What I have to offer during your studio time:
- Outfits (rompers, dresses, chunky knits)
- Plain white baby grows
- Plain white nappy covers
- Wooden toys
- Cake stand
- Cake topper
- Cake
- Baby wipes
- Anti Bac Gel
- Bath towel
- White dressing gown

Over the years I have gathered a collection of props, outfits and little bits and bobs that suit my style of work. I wanted to be able to give my clients a very stress-free experience and that is why I have prepared the studio for this. I have a forever growing collection of toys and outfits, which are always available for you to use during the session. I’m always on the look out for the cutest pieces and I just love finding bits that just work so well. A lot of my studio clothing is either from little online shops, Zara (their kids section is AMAZING), H&M Kids as well as finding bits through Instagram. All outfits will be displayed and ready for you to choose upon arrival. You are of course welcome to bring your own outfit.

For the first part of the session we start with portraits. This gives your little ones the chance to feel super comfortable in front of the camera and a chance to play with all the little toys to offer. This part of the session I would suggest borrowing/bring your own nice outfit. One that you don’t want to get covered in lots of sticky cake. For the actual smash I do have plain white baby grows/nappy covers for you all to use. These save your clothes getting mucky/stained. Some parents also bring their own cake smash outfit, but I do encourage you to keep it simple. Keeping things simple means the whole attention is on your little one, not the outfit or the cake. As after all, this is your babies first birthday and it should be all about them. We don’t want no cakes/clothes stealing the spot light! Whites, pale greys, beiges etc are highly recommended.

After we have done with the cake, I get out the little white bath tub! Your little ones love to have a little splash about. I always have a fresh, clean towel ready for you to use when we’re finished. But of course, please bring your own if you so wish. I do also have a baby dressing down ready and waiting for those last cute photos!

I have pretty much everything, so you only really need to bring yourselves and your everyday bag (snacks, drinks, dummies etc). I want your whole experience to be as stress-free as possible and I made it my mission to ensure that it is! I didn’t want any of my clients to have to remember to try and bring stuff and worry about whether it was put in the bag or not.

Cake smashes really are such a fun experience for everyone and a great way to mark your little ones 1st birthday! So if you’re interested in a smash shoot, then please feel free to get in touch by clicking HERE!
