Bobby's Cake Smash & Splash Photoshoot | Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire Photographer

Little Bobby came into the studio in March to celebrate his 1st birthday with a cake smash and splash photoshoot. It feels so amazing when I get asked to be part of your little ones milestones and it feels even better knowing I can capture forever long lasting memories.

Bobby came into the studio and ready to go. Before your little ones arrive, I always leave out a few wooden toys on the floor, along with some balloons. I always give your little one the chance to feel comfortable. Some children can feel really shy around strangers and in front of the camera. Some children want to cling onto their parents as coming into the studio is the unknown. I just want you little one to feel as comfortable as possible, because that leads to the best photos and a super happy baby. I sit on the floor and show your little ones which toys we have, there are always more options on the shelf if they want to play with something else. Once they feel comfortable, I start slowly snapping away. Ensuring they are as happy as possible throughout the whole session.

Watching your little play so naturally creates the most beautiful images. I’m not one to constantly want your child to pose for each and every photo. The main goal for me is to capture genuine, beautiful and natural images of your little one.

Bobby loved playing with everything in the studio and he was definitely super keen to get his hands on that yummy cake. After a few portraits, the cake came out and Bobby was straight in. It’s so funny to watch the reaction of your little ones. This massive cake being put down in front of them, some have a few minutes of not sure what to do. They look at their Mummy & Daddy for reassurance, probably super confused why everyone is nodding them along. Some take a little encouragement and others dive straight in, either way every child is different and that’s the whole fun of it all.

Bobby didn’t need much encouragement, he loved the soft buttercream icing in his hands. Filling both hands up ready to eat. Cake smashes are such great fun, but it’s also really good for their development/sensory learning.

During the smash, we can play your little ones favourite music. We’ve had everything from baby shark (I think we all feel the same about this song 😂) and even the Beetles. Whatever gets your little squishes bums moving and heads bopping!

Once your little one has had enough, it’s your choice if you’d like your little one to have a splash and play in my beautiful mini bath tub. Filled with the most delicious smelling baby friendly bubble bath and the studios collection of bath toys. I use the Child’s Farm collection as they have the most beautiful scents and they’re really safe for children. But of course, if you would like to bring your own bubbles then you are more than welcome to do so. If there is any leftover Cake then I always encourage you to take it home with you, pop your feet up and make a cuppa with a slice!

Bobby absolutely loved the bath. Being able to splash about and make as much mess as you can without getting told off, is like a little babies dream! Sometimes my studio is wetter then a water park and we’re in the splash zone. The splash bath is such a great way to wash off all that sticky cake and capture more adorable photos of your babies in a little tub. It’s honestly so sweet!

I had such a great time (as always with every cake smash and splash session) photographing Bobby’s birthday cake smash and splash. I absolutely adore Cake Smashes, so if your little one is turning 1 soon and you’re thinking of booking then please feel free to get in touch.
