Simple Cake Smash Photography | Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Tring, Berkhamstead, Harpenden

I’m sure you have all seen by now how simple and minimal my work is. I started off photography 5 years ago and always loved the simplicity style of photography, I never really knew what direction to turn in. I started featuring little splashes of colour here and there whilst I was starting out but was never truly 100% sure this is what I wanted to do. But when I developed more of a style, gained a lot more confidence and invested into creating my Cake Smashes into how I envisioned them in my head, it was obvious to me that less is always more and I’m such a believer in that.

I totally understand my style of work isn’t for everyone and there’s so many photographers in the local area that provide all types of different styles, but I’m obsessed. I just love how timeless simplicity is and how all the focus is purely on your little one. It’s their photoshoot, I should be all about them.

I don’t offer themes or colours (the odd confetti balloon can make an appearance, haha!). I simply set up a delicious white buttercream sponge cake on a white cake stand with a gorgeous gold cake topper from Bo And Bella surrounded by a couple of white balloons. To some this may sound a bit boring but trust me, seeing your little one centre of attention reacting to a cake all for themselves, it’s priceless!

I break down my cake smashes into 3 sections to ensure you get the most out of your session. We start by taking portraits of your little one before all the mess. This gives your little one time to explore, feel comfortable and a chance to play with my selection of beautiful wooden toys in the studio, I also have a white ball pit that the little ones love!

Snapping away at them playing or discovering how something works, it’s just so natural and lovely.

We then bring out the white buttercream cake and let your little one smash, play and eat. Some of their reactions are so hilarious and it really is a lot of fun!

Finally out comes the white bath tub filled with bubbles so we can clean up the mess and they can have a splash about.

I love being able to photograph these special memories for you to remember in years to come. First birthdays are such a big deal, so celebrating them with a cake smash is such a perfect way!

So simple, yet so timeless.
