Cake Smash | Hemel Hempstead
I absolutely love when an email comes through to photograph your little ones birthday Cake Smash, it’s honestly is one of my favourite types of session as they’re just so much fun. Your little ones first birthday is so important, that whole year has probably flown by and Cake Smashes are such a fun way to celebrate that.
My Cake Smashes are based in my home studio in Hemel Hempstead, which saves your house from all the mess and trust me, there’s a lot! I adore simplicity and ensuring the main focus was purely on your little one, which of course is the most important thing. I have had pops of colour in my Cake Smashes in the past, but stripping it all back to basics and keeping it clean is my absolute favourite.
I always start my Cake Smashes with a portrait session before all of the mess, this also gives your little one the chance of getting comfortable in front of the camera and more aware of their surroundings. I have a constant growing supply of wooden toys that are available to be played with, these also look so lovely in your photos as your little one plays with them. I’ll snap away to capture there little giggles!
Once your little one feels more comfortable, we get them changed into their Cake Smash outfit. I always supply plain white baby grows or nappy covers to save your lovely clothes from getting ruined. This again keeps things simple! The Cake is a 3 layered white buttercream cake and looks absolutely delicious! My beautiful cakes are made by a local Hemel Hempstead baker as well as my pretty cake toppers which were kindly gifted to me via Bo & Bella Gifts which are also a small local business.
We then bring the cake out and pop it down in front of them, their reaction can be absolutely hilarious and it’s so interesting to see how the react to it! We can play music and simply let them lead the show! Once your little one has had enough, it’s your choice if you’d like your little one to have a splash and play in my beautiful mini bath tub. Filled with bubbles and a cute rubber duck, they make the cutest photos! if there is any leftover Cake then I always encourage you to take it home with you, pop your feet up and make a cuppa with a slice!
I absolutely adore Cake Smashes, so if your little one is turning 1 soon and you’re thinking of booking then please feel free to get in touch.
