1st Birthday Photoshoot Ideas | Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire Photographer
If you’re reading this, I’m guessing your little bub is turning one. You’re probably a little emotional, sad and can’t quite believe how quick the year has gone. From that teeny tiny little newborn baby to a one year old with the cutest of personalities, they’re growing up!
1st birthdays should be celebrated, I mean it’s the first of many and that’s why I offer a 1st birthday cake smash and splash. These sessions have been created for an hour of pure fun and it really is so much fun.
We dance, we can sing, we can blow bubbles and capture so many special memories during your cake smash session. Honestly, it’s the funniest thing when the cake comes out and is placed in front of your little one. Their reaction is not to be missed and is definitely a photo moment! I’m pretty sure they’re thinking" “is this alllllll for me”.
The cake is provided for your session and it’s the most scrummy, delicious and perfect simple cake for your cake smash. Not a show stealer but the perfect addition. The cakes are a 3 layered, white buttercream sponge cake made by the wonderful Linda at Creation Cakes By Linda. Her cakes are just incredible and everyone always comments how tasty they are. Make sure to check out her page!
Cake Smashes always remind me of that moment in Matilda when Bruce Bogtrotter has to eat all of that chocolate cake and he’s completely covered in it! Not that your little one would eat all the cake, but some do have their fair try! If you’re lucky, you may be able to take some home to eat later on. There tends to always be left overs!
Cake smashes aren’t all about the cake, I mean it’s definitely the highlight of the session but I also like to spend some time playing with your little ones to make them feel more comfortable in front of the camera. The studio is forever growing with beautiful wooden props. Chosen perfectly to look stunning in your images without stealing the show. Once you’re little one has settled in and we’ve managed to get some beautiful portraits of your little one before they get messy, that’s when the cake comes out (and also the funniest moment ever). Some need a little encouragement, which is fine, but once they get going and realise it’s all okay to eat then thats when the little hands get stuck in. Others need no encouragement and go classic Bruce Bogtrotter style. Both ways are all so funny and just the best moment to capture.
Once your little one has had enough of the cake (which I didn’t think I’d ever write that in a sentence), I bring out the absolutely stunning little white bathtub filled with warm water and bubbles (all bubble bath is child friendly, sensitive skin friendly and I usually have the deliciously smelling Child’s Farm bubbles which I’m sure most of you are familiar with or use at home. You’re welcome to bring your own or we don’t need to use any at all). We’ll let your little one splash about, play with the little rubber ducks and wash away all the sticky cake whilst capturing the cutest photos.
Now, does the idea of your little one sound like fun?
